Cold Mountain In Virginia
Have you seen the movie Cold Mountain that starred Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renée Zellweger? It was a movie version of the best-selling book by Charles Frazier of the same name. It was about a novel about Virginia’s Civil War produced by Miramax and was directed by Anthony Minghella. The scene, when a wounded civil war soldier (Jude Law) left the hospital to find his girlfriend Ada (Nicole Kidman) and began his long trek through a rocky road surrounded by river on one side and a steep cliff on the other side, that was filmed at Belle Isle State Park. What you saw in that scene was the whole surroundings of Belle Isle.
Other scenes like the mansion’s exterior of Carter’s Grove Plantation were also in Virginia. Except for the battle fight scenes, which were shot in Romania, Virginia was mostly the film location for this movie.
